Visit to 4th Grade Class at Shirley Township Elementary School

 

Quint 7 and crew made a visit to Mrs. McMaster's 4th grade class on Shirley Township Elementary School.  Students were instructed on the equipment a firefighter wears and what to do in case of a fire in their home.  The students were also allowed to take a tour of Quint 7 as well as watch as one of the crew climbed the aerial device.

Grant $Dollars$ awarded to Station 7

 

The Mount Union Fire Company No. 1 has received notification that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded a $ 94,500.00 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program award.  This money will be used to purchase a complete set of turnout gear for every member of the department.  The fire company will have to provide 5% of this award which will be $ 4,725.

 

Also, we would like to remind the citizens and businesses of Mount Union Borough and Shirley Township, that this funding will only help our fire department with this equipment purchase. Your support has been and is still needed and appreciated for our normal activities.

Vehicle accident on 26 Box

 

March 24th - At 17:06, Station7 was alerted to assist MC Co. 26 for an auto accident in Wayne Township, Mifflin County.  R7, Amb. 701 and 702 responded.  R7 was placed available prior to arrival on scene.  700 EMS handled patient treatment and transport.  Units were back in service at 17:18.

Transfer to Station 5

 

March 23rd - At 09:16, Station7 was alerted to transfer a single engine to Station 5.  Unit was back in service at 10:54.

Crews assist EMS with flyout

 

March 22nd - At 12:12, Station7 was alerted for a motorcycle accident on Rt. 522 south.  AC7 went on scene and immediately called for a medavac chopper.  R7 crew assisted with landing zone.  Units were back in service at 13:02.

"Truck" assist on Saltillo house fire

 

March 18th - At 08:01, Station 7 was alerted for an engine transfer to Company 12 quarters.  E7 responded.  Chief 12 went on scene with a working fire and requested Quint7 to the scene.  Q7 then responded.  Orders for Q7 were to fly the stick and vent the roof.  Crew performed ventilation and then assisted with overhaul and salvage operations.  Units were back in service at 10:48.

March 16th - At 09:02, Station7 was alerted to assist MC Co. 26 for an auto accident in Wayne Township, Mifflin County.  R7 and Amb. 701 responded.  No services were needed and units were back in service at 09:09.

Brush Fire

 

March 13th - At 15:56, Station 7 was dispatched to a brush fire along Rt. 747 in Shirley Township.  B7, B71 and E7 responded.  Crews used brush equipment to extinguish fire.  Units were back in service at 16:25.

Minor Vehicle accident

 

March 11th - At 09:02, Station7 was alerted to assist MC Co. 26 for an auto accident in Wayne Township, Mifflin County.  R7 and Amb. 701 responded.  No services were needed and units were back in service at 09:09.

Minor Vehicle vs. Bus accident

 

March 8th - At 14:51, Station 7 was dispatched to an auto accident at Division and Grant Street, Mount Union Borough for a vehicle vs. school bus accident.  R7 and Amb. 701 responded.  No one was injured.  Crews assisted transferring the students to another bus and with traffic control.  Units were back in service at 15:54.

Kitchen fire

 

March 7th - At 19:33, Station 7 was alerted for a kitchen fire at 14192 Wrangletown Road, Shirley Township.  Q7, E7, R7 and Amb. 701, as well as several mutual aid companies responded.  Units arrived on scene and found the fire knocked down by the residence.  Extension was found in the cabinets and ceiling.  Crew performed overhaul and units were back in service at 20:56.

Smoke in a structure

 

March 3rd - At 09:22, Station 7 was alerted for smoke in a structure at 202 Filbert Street, Mount Union Borough.  R7 as well as E2, R20, E20, MCE26 and MCT26 responded.  Units arrived on scene and found the problem to be with the hot water heater.  Power was shut off to the device and units were back in service at 10:16.
